Volunteering as a Reader
Volunteer Readers are the heart of College Guild! Readers provide the personal touch to College Guild’s correspondence courses for inmates.
Readers respond individually to student assignments. The feedback is shared with the student, providing important direction for their learning and representing a connection to someone who cares about their progress.

Our Readers are a diverse group from all over the U.S., Canada, and beyond ranging in age from 18 to 80+. You don’t need any specific credentials, just the desire to help incarcerated people see the best in themselves. You can contribute as much time as you would like.
“I've received thank you letters and felt a real connection to the students. I don't know what their past was, but I'm sure College Guild is very different, and that as I discover their opinions and potential, so do they.”
